Together with the renovation of the existing dwelling built in 1967, the owner expressed her wish for an extension including a garden orientated studio and a light but covered entrance. Based on the with attention to details designed house, we decided to make a physically and aesthetically separated extension, which temporary architecture fits well the existing style and is only connected by a glass corridor.
Besides the owners wishes for light and orientation to the surrounding green, sustainability and ecology were an important part of our design task. As well the construction, as the insulation and facade material is made of wood. All roofs, even the horizontal glass, are provided with PV-cells and/or sedum / plants. The green roofs and the patio, which enables the conservation of existing trees, provide the property with enough natural fencing and integrate the new extension into the existing garden green.
